Many students experience difficulty adjusting to the changes in their lives while in college. Students may leave their homes, communities, and even their home cultures to live independently for the first time. In college, they make key career and life decisions while developing the judgment that marks their maturation from adolescents to young adults. Students also manage the special challenges of academics. Under these circumstances, students may find their personal resources strained. CAPS offers a comfortable and confidential environment for students to seek assistance.
The mission of CAPS is to enhance the personal, social, educational and career development of students attending UC Davis. CAPS services and programs include individual counseling and psychotherapy, group therapy, couples counseling, psychological assessment, crisis intervention, career counseling and testing, psychiatric evaluation and intervention, consultation and educational outreach, mind-body services and the Multicultural Immersion Program. CAPS also provides training and supervision for peer counselors and students in professional degree programs.
