Circle K International
"Circle K International is a great community service club
that strives to fulfill our three tenets: service, leadership, and
fellowship," says Public Relations Chair Susan Nguyen. "We participate in a plethora of great community service events each year, and one of our all time favorites is the monthly Davis Community Meals, where we serve dinner to the economically disadvantaged of Yolo County," Nguyen says. "We also just held our first MU Games Night fundraiser and raised hundreds of dollars that will be donated to StandUP forKids, an organization that locates homeless kids and helps get them off the street. We are all very excited that the event went as well as it did!
"During the 2007 Relay for Life, I ran into Circle K members while volunteering with VNCARES. They were all extremely friendly, and even invited me to play ultimate frisbee with them! They treated me like I was already a part of their group! I was really impressed by the inclusiveness of their friendships, so for the first time, I attended one of their meetings. I was blown away! During their first meeting of spring quarter, they had a hilarious introduction video, tons of community service opportunities, chair positions open for application, and even gave out prizes! It was exactly what the club was about: service, leadership, and fellowship. So I applied for a position, and voila!, that's how I became their public relations chair. It's been a blast so far, and now I only wish I joined sooner.
"So, whether you have a passion for service, want to become a better leader,
or make great friendships, Circle K International is a great club to be in!", concludes Nguyen enthusiastically.
