SPOTLIGHT ON STUDENT LIFE :: Phi Alpha Delta

Phi Alpha Delta

Louis Ma, president of the UC Davis Pre-Law chapter of Phi Alpha Delta, says being a member of the co-ed fraternity "has grounded me firmly on the path to law school more than any other aspect of my life. While it has entailed a significant commitment of time and energy, the rewards both in terms of knowledge and preparation gained as well as the lifelong friendships I have made are definitely worth it."

Joining Phi Alpha Delta requires participation in Rush and Pledging, says Ma. Rush is a week-long series of events that serve to introduce prospective members to the fraternity and vice versa, and culminates in an interview. Afterwards, a select group from those who rushed will be extended an invitation to Pledge, which is a quarter-long committment that serves as an orientation to the fraternity. Rush is held in the second week of fall and spring quarters.

Phi Alpha Delta holds weekly meetings, open only to members, alumni, and specially invited guests. According to Ma, Phi Alpha Delta holds special events throughout the year, and many are widely advertised through flyers on campus, tabling, e-mails and Facebook.
