SPOTLIGHT ON STUDENT LIFE :: Undergraduate Psychology Association

Undergraduate Psychology Association

The student-run Undergraduate Psychology Association (UPA) is a club designed for psychology majors and minors, says Amanda Blattman, club president. "Members interact with fellow psychology majors as well as guest speakers," she says. "At our meetings we invite a wide variety of professionals in the field of psychology, including professors, academic advisers, admissions directors for graduate schools, graduate students, Kaplan, and many more." Blattman adds that UPA allows members to receive an abundance of academic, career, graduate school, campus and community information. "Because our members meet professors at UC Davis and other professionals in the area, UPA is a great way to learn about new and exciting internships. In addition to all the valuable information members receive, members also get the opportunity to participate in fundraisers, socials, community service events."

Blattman says her experience in UPA has been "wonderful." She's gaind leadership skills as a board member, as well as communication skills. "I have been able to make several connections will UCD faculty," says Blattman, "and other professionals in the field of psychology."

UPA meets every other Wednesday in Young 166, 6:30-8:00 p.m. Blattman says winter quarter will feature lots of events, including a fundraiser at Habit Burger on January 14. Please stay tuned for winter quarter speakers and dates, urges Blattman.
