Student Affairs Snapshot: Lora Jo Bossio
As interim assistant vice chancellor for enrollment and academic support services, Lora Jo Bossio envisions continuing to work with Student Affairs units on creating a seamless pipeline for students, from pre-college interactions at elementary, middle and high schools, through admissions and enrollment, graduation and then graduate school or transition to a career. "We're expanding our view to ensure we offer a path of success for all students, via technology, staff and department interactions, and university processes," says Bossio. "We're looking at enrollment services from a student's perspective and evaluating what we need to do differently. That's exciting!"
Bossio began her UC Davis career as assistant director for residence life in January 1989 and enjoyed the extensive contact with students. "I worked with residence hall directors, addressed conduct issues, ran training sessions and the learning resource centers," she says.
Bossio went on to become an officer in Financial Aid, another position working directly with students. "My two main programs when I joined Financial Aid were education abroad students and undocumented students," she says. The position gave Bossio the opportunity to learn Financial Aid from the ground up, and she became director in 2001.
During her tenure as director of Financial Aid, Bossio served as interim university registrar for eight months, during 2004-2005.
