Student Assistants to the Chancellor 2013-2014
Chake'ra "Star" Bacon and Patrick Sheehan have been named Student Assistant to the Chancellor for 2013-2014
Star is a junior, majoring in Community and Regional Development, with a minor in African and African American Studies and Communications. Star is currently a resident adviser for Campbell Hall and participates in a wide array of student organizations, committees and community activities including the Black Student Union, Food Services Committee, Leaders of Tomorrow, Distinguished Entrepreneurs United, Linda Frances Alexander Scholars, Winslow Gilhooly Award Committee, Student Recruitment and Retention Center, Cross Cultural Center, Black Family Week/Day Committee, Student of Color Conference. She also interned with Associated Students of UC Davis. Star is the founder, president and event manager of Star Productions, located in Elk Grove, Calif.
Patrick is a senior graduating in June 2014, with a major in Computer Science. Patrick is a volunteer with the UC Davis Police Department, helping out in their IT Department. He was a senator in the Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD) and was later elected by his peers to serve as senate president pro tempore. He was also president of the Tercero Leadership Council. One of Patrick's contributions while serving as senator was the implementation of project BAIT Bikes, a program to help reduce bike thefts on our campus. Patrick was also involved with the Davis Honors Program and maintains membership with numerous campus and community organizations. Patrick's photography was included in the Audeamus, the University of California Honors Journal and the UC Davis Human Rights Journal.
Overall, Star and Patrick have an outstanding record of service and leadership on campus and in the community. Each brings a complimentary set of leadership skills and experiences to the position and we look forward to working with them during the 2013-2014 academic year. Please join me in congratulating Star and Patrick, and acknowledging and thanking Annemarie Stone, Artem Trotsyuk and Miguel "Migz" Espinoza for their outstanding contributions to the campus as Student Assistants to the Chancellor for 2012-2013.
