| SPOTLIGHT ON STUDENT LIFE :: Student Assistants to the Chancellor | |
Student Assistants to the Chancellor 2009-2010Nina Massoumi and Allison Zike are Student Assistants to the Chancellor for 2009-2010 and bring complementary sets of leadership skills and experiences to the positions. Nina will be a senior graduating in June 2010, with a major in International Relations and a minor in African and African American Studies and Spanish. Nina has served as a Campus Climate intern at the Cross Cultural Center since September 2007 and has had a major role in coordinating many outstanding programs. Additionally, she served as a home-group leader for the 2009 R.E.A.C.H Retreat, convener of the 2008 Middle Eastern South Asian Retreat, Community Service Coordinator for the Iranian Student Cultural Aesthetic Organization, and the undergraduate representative for the Imani Health Clinic. She participates in a wide array of student organizations and committees on campus, including the Campus Council on Community and Diversity. Overall, Nina has an outstanding record of service and leadership on campus. This year, she was the student recipient of the Chancellor's Achievement Award for Diversity and Community and the Margarita Robinson Student Leadership Award. Allison will be a senior graduating in December 2010, with a major in Community and Regional Development and a minor in English. Allison has served as the Orientation Student Coordinator with Advising Services since December 2008 and Orientation Leader/Academic Peer Adviser since spring 2007. She has also served as the Student Activities and Outreach Assistant for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CA&ES). Allison was the 2009 Head Coordinator for UC Davis Field Day, which hosted more than 3,000 high school students and facilitated a corresponding course, AED 192. In addition to her student employment leadership positions, Allison volunteers as a CA&ES Aggie Ambassador, Career Faire Coordinator and teaching assistant at Davis Senior High School. |
