Become a NUFP Mentor

The NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program creates possibilities and aims to change the landscape of student affairs and higher education. The mission of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program is to increase the number of historically disenfranchised and underrepresented professionals in student affairs and/or higher education, including but not limited to those of racial and ethnic-minority background; those having a disability; and those identifying as LGBTQ. The NUF Program provides mentorship, conference attendance opportunities, graduate school application support, behind the scenes insight into the field of student affairs, possibility of paid internship positions across the nation, and possible attendance at a summer NUF leadership conference.

Mentors are an important part of the NUFP program and the success of NUFP mentees during their program tenure. Mentors are selected by the UC Davis NUFP Committee each year and paired with a NUF mentee for the duration of the academic year. Mentors should have experience in the field and should be able to speak to the experience of applying to graduate programs. Mentors are expected to meet 1-2 times a month with their fellow, attend monthly mentor meetings and participate in several NUFP events throughout the year. Mentors are selected based on the number of fellows and fellows’ interests. Our goal is to create diverse pairs that can learn from one another throughout the year they are working together.
