Emphasis on Access to Mental Health Resources

In response to rising rates of anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns on college campuses nationwide, Chancellor May last year created a task force dedicated to mental health, with an emphasis on augmenting students' access to care. Here are a few of the new and enhanced services that are worth knowing about as we head into the new academic year.

Vice Chancellor Tull Wants To Make Sure You Get What You Came For

On July 1, Renetta Garrison Tull became UC Davis’ first Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In this position, announced by Chancellor May last year, Vice Chancellor Tull will lead the Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and be involved in student, staff and faculty recruitment and retention at both the Davis and Sacramento campuses.

The Cultural Pages Win CASE District VII Grand Gold Award

The UC Davis Cultural Pages—print and digital guidebooks to cultural and ethnicity-based resources and community life on campus—recently received a Grand Gold Award in Diversity Programs from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), District VII.

A team encompassing many departments within Student Affairs contributed to The Cultural Pages, and student employees had a leading role in the design and development process.

SA Spotlight: Aggie Moonlight Breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day; but to students studying for their final exams, it may be the most important meal of the night too. Last quarter, Chancellor Gary S. May, the ASUCD Coffee House and the Division of Student Affairs presented the inaugural Moonlight Breakfast in the CoHo between 9 p.m. and midnight on the second day of finals week, providing vital brain fuel to students facing a long night of studying.

Spotlight: Program Gets Girls Excited About STEM, Wins Award

STEM for Girls, now in its eighth year, is a joint project of the Women’s Resources and Research Center (WRRC) and the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. It aims to equip the approximately 60 girls from underrepresented groups who participate each year with the confidence to pursue their interest in a STEM field.
