Strategic Native American Retention Initiative

The Strategic Native American Retention Initiative is a multifaceted academic success program at UC Davis focused on increasing the retention, persistence and graduation rates of Native American students, in a culturally appropriate way. The goal is building connection and strengthening community, and programming is focused on academic success and resiliency. The initiative will:

  • Create a space for students to explore identity and create a sense of belonging for our Native American students: The Native American Academic Student Success Center is open in the University House on campus.
  • Create cultural legitimacy.
  • Promote academic resiliency for our students.
  • Foster students' transition to higher education and beyond.
Native American Academic Student Success Center

The Native American Academic Student Success Center (NAASSC) is focused on creating a sense of belonging for Native American students in a culturally appropriate way. Our community includes students, staff, faculty and alumni from a wide variety of tribal backgrounds, experiences and academic interests.

At the center, you can connect with UC Davis resources that enhance your academic success, learn about culturally relevant activities and create a support network with other students who identify as Native American.
