Student Opportunity Center Space Planning

The UC Davis Student Affairs Priorities are central in planning the new Student Opportunity Center. The
project will also be aligned with the goals of the following other initiatives:

  • UC Davis To Boldly Go strategic plan
  • UC 2030 capacity plan to serve more Californians
  • UC Regents goals to reduce food and housing insecurity by 50%
  • Support the Student Success Goals of the Multi‐Year Compact between the Newsom Administration and the University of California.

Mission

The Division of Student Affairs advances the university’s mission by providing programs, services and
facilities that foster academic success, student development and campus community. We inspire and
support students as they prepare for their future roles in a diverse, dynamic and global society.

Student Opportunity Center Guiding Principles

Building will be structured to:

  • Enhance the development and growth of UC Davis students to succeed on campus and beyond by holistically exposing them to opportunities and experiences that will catalyze excellence
  • Foster a sense of belonging through positive, safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces
  • Support the social, emotional, physical, mental health and basic needs of students
  • Center equity in all efforts/considerations to ensure we elevate students to ameliorate opportunity gaps
  • Create an environment where students will not slip through the cracks
  • Create a culture that encourages staff collaboration and continuous improvement to better meet emerging student needs
  • Amplify a culture of affirming services to support students
  • Elevate and scale transformational career development opportunities that lead to optimal postgraduation outcomes
