Power Outages - Resources for Students

Dear Aggies,

With some students in Davis, the surrounding area and throughout the state still without power, we wanted to share information and resources with the student community. For local students, PG&E is working to restore power, and updates can be found at the City of Davis Storm Resources page. For a current view of PG&E power outages, please visit their Outage Map

We know that for many students this power outage may impact your academics, especially with upcoming mid-term exams. With the transition to remote instruction, guidelines were implemented to allow for additional academic flexibility, and we encourage you to work directly with your professors regarding any challenges you may be experiencing due to the power outage. The Academic Senate is also communicating with faculty to provide updates.

Beyond academics, we understand that a prolonged power outage can impact other aspects of your lives. For students living in The Green and Student Housing Apartments, Student Housing and Dining Services is working directly with residents. For students living in the Davis area, the Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center is offering various resources such as food and blankets to help address basic needs that may not be met. The center has created an online form to streamline the process of requesting assistance. You may also call them directly at 530-752-9254. Student Health and Counseling Services is also available at 530-752-2300 for any medical or mental health needs.

The Memorial Union and Shields Library are currently open with reduced capacity due to the pandemic. To access them, you will need to complete the Daily Symptom Survey and follow all COVID-19 protocols.

Both campus and your Aggie community are here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to access any of these resources.

Sincerely,

Pablo Reguerín
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
