Why is the Student Satisfaction Survey being used?

  • In 2018, Finance, Operations and Administration (FOA) began using the Faculty and Staff Satisfaction Survey to better evaluate how well it was meeting its customers' needs. The Student Satisfaction Survey compliments those results with the student perspective on Division of Student Affairs services. It aims to find out where Student Affairs service units have been successful in enhancing a student’s overall experience and where there is room for improvement.

How will information be used?

  • The results of the survey will be available to departments within one month of its closing date. In reviewing results, we will see what we do well, what things are improving and what needs extra attention.
  • Departments and units may review their individual survey results and may address areas identified as needing attention that are unique to that unit. Those areas that need special attention are prioritized, and a plan for making improvements is developed for the next fiscal year. Departments participate by setting performance goals and developing action plans for achieving the goals.

Does everyone have to complete a survey?

  • The Student Satisfaction Survey is important, and there is a strong expectation that students will participate. Although participation is not mandatory, all students are invited to take the survey regardless of their interest or disinterest in participating. Your feelings about campus administrative and student services can be central to the performance of the department, and higher rates of participation help to ensure that we are collecting the most valid data.

How is my confidentiality being maintained?

  • The Student Satisfaction Survey is confidential. “Confidential” does not equate to “anonymous.” Anonymous means there is no way we can know who responded to which survey questions. Confidential means that technically we are able to identify the respondent. However, this information is not shared with anyone. It remains private.
  • If you have any further questions regarding confidentiality, please contact SSSemail@ucdavis.edu.
