Executive Director, Amy Shuman

Amy Shuman serves as the Executive Director of Staff Coaching and Professional Development for the Division of Student Affairs at UC Davis.  She holds a master's of arts in Leadership, is a Gallup advanced certified Strengths coach, and professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation.  She leads workshops and coaches employees to help them maximize their potential. Amy is particularly passionate about leadership and empowering people to create a positive workplace culture. Amy has over a decade of human resources management experience and works with leadership on people management, communication, employee engagement and overall workplace climate. Amy believes we are all on a quest to become the best versions of ourselves, and that process takes time, reflection, feedback, practice and... coaching!

Jeff Heiser headshot

Senior Trainer and Strengths Coach,
Jeff Heiser

Jeff Heiser is our Senior Trainer and Strengths Coach for Workforce development in the Division of Student Affairs at UC Davis. He has his master’s of science with an emphasis in non-profit management, is a Gallup-certified strengths coach, and is an associate certified coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation. He conducts one-on-one coaching with leaders at all levels, leads Strengths and teambuilding workshops with departments across the division, and enjoys facilitating strategic planning and goal-setting retreats with units and teams. He is committed to helping individuals explore their strengths and discover how they can utilize those strengths daily to feel more energized, engaged, and happy at work (and in their lives).

Jeff is excited to work with staff across Student Affairs to help them establish their goals, explore their strengths, and gain a new perspective.

Staff Development Coach and Consultant, Lorna Gill

Lorna is energized by the privilege of being partner and witness to others’ transformation through coaching and training. With close to 20 years of experience in Human Resources within Student Affairs at UC Davis, she has seen the effectiveness of the right tool, or the right question to awaken people to the power of their own strengths and capability – even in challenging situations. Growth takes practice! As a believer in lifelong learning and growth, Lorna recognizes that each person is unique – and uniquely qualified to learn what they need to learn to resolve their own conundrums, increase their effectiveness, and create the life and work they envision for themselves.

Executive Projects Coordinator, Nellie Fitzgerald

Nellie Fitzgerald serves as Executive Projects Coordinator for Staff Coaching and Professional Development within the Division of Student Affairs at UC Davis. She holds a bachelor's degree in Communication and Professional Writing from UC Davis and is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. Nellie brings a strategic and vision-oriented approach to communications, research, coordination, and program building. With a unique background as a composer and music producer, she brings a blend of passion and creativity to her work in Higher Ed. A proud alumna of UC Davis, Nellie is particularly passionate about supporting Student Affairs staff in fostering a positive and growth-centric environment for students.
